Happy Halloween 2012!

Boo!.. Not scared? No wonder - life nowadays, I tell ya. Drift, thrift, and two debating weasels are surely more frightening than some old-time folklore. Although, the latter is more interesting and exciting.

Speaking of which, did you know that holiday had pagan roots and initially was called Samhain - "summer's end" in Gaelic?.. On that day, good old Celts celebrated the New Year by... honoring the dead.

Later on, after druidism had lost its necrophiliac appeal, the Roman Catholic Church shifted religious gears by creating All Saints Day (also called Hallomas) - in part, to even further downplay the pagan holidays. However, thanks to the Guy Upstairs, it did not succeed!

Halloween, as we know it today, has grown to a tremendous celebration of candy-munching for kids and intoxication and sexism for adults. Along the way, fun, frights, and Satanic twists have been added to the mix. Amen!

And here, my friends, is the token of my appreciation of Halloween. I present to you the carved pumpkin... oops, sorry honey!.. the Cinderella's Carriage. Courtesy of my dear wife! :)
