Они уходят в вечность как когда-то уходили на войну - без жалоб и лишних слов. Наверное, поэтому их фронтовые песни так сильны. Вспомним, хотя бы, "В Землянке"Алексея Суркова:
В наше время, особенною ценность приобретают не только люди, пережившие войну, но и информация тех лет. Отчасти, нехватка оной обусловлена масштабами конфликта, а также извечным грифом секретности. Если Ваши родственники-ветераны живы, спешите распросить их - уверен, Вы откроете много интересного.
А узнать о фронтовой судьбе погибших и умерших Вам поможет интернет ресурс "Подвиг Народа". Он поведал мне о боевом пути моих дедов и прадеда из официальных наградных листов - потрёпанных планшетами, походами и временем. Эти "ветераны" снова в строю - на почетном месте моей библиотеки, обтянутые портупеями фоторамок.
While at my desk this morning, I suddenly heard a continuous grappling sound behind the window glass. A squirrel, climbing the screen mesh, came to see me. It first went up the screen, then down, then toward me and stared.
If it could, it would have probably said "hello." But it carried something in its mouth - perhaps, a mushroom - and seemed smarter than the Aesop's crow.
Tired of our staring contest, the squirrel bailed out shortly after. The way, it comfortably crawled the netting, made me think of a spider. And there it was - the Spider Squirrel.

For every Russian, and many people from the former USSR, June 22 is the gruesome date. On that day in 1941, the Nazi troops invaded us without declaring a war. That was how the Great Patriotic War, the most devastating war in history, began. It went on for four years - from 1941 to 1945. The conflict revealed the weakness of our leaders and the relentless courage and sacrifice of our people. Let's remember it by watching Kseniya Simonova's sand art (video):

Fifty years ago, the mankind stepped into space. Vostok-1 bursted into it with all the might and will of the people of the USSR. The first man in cosmos was the Russian Yuri Gagarin.
Less than 16 years after the ruining Great Patriotic War, the country made the unbelievable breakthrough. Congratulations to my compatriots and to the whole humanity on the anniversary of the greatest Soviet achievement!
Yes, yes, yes - I did watch the Super Bowl. I even shot our party on video. Just did not have time to upload it here because of school and work overload. Alright, enough of excuses.
I watched the game at my friends' in Oconomowoc, WI. These are those glorious moments (video):

As you can see in the videos, our celebration was loud but... responsible. However, we saw pretty wild stuff on the street after the game: girls flashing, fans binge drinking, and passing cars honking!
Great time to be a Packer Fan! Let's do it again next year!.. I mean both - the Bowl and the party. Go, Pack, Go!
Last night was a lot of fun! Probably for the first time in many years, we had an attribute of the real winter. A blizzard with lots of snow (18 inches) and gusty winds (64 miles per hour) was echoing in chimneys with moans and growls all night, and, exhausted by morning, left a cemetery-like white peacefulness behind.
This is the view of my balcony. Lots of shoveling awaits me. Or, I can just let it be and wait until it melts naturally... Yep, a slacker I am! :)

The governor of Wisconsin has declared a state of emergency. Today, the majority of streets and roads are blocked and empty; nothing and nobody works in Milwaukee (except for snow plowers and an emergency staff). Guess what! There's so much snow, they've called the National Guard to help clean... Literally, it was the day the world stood still!
Harsh conditions for work and travel - perfect for a snow fight! Let's go outside! :)

As much as controversial and hysterical, the description of the Georgian-Osetian War Conflict in August 2008 by the world's mass medium has been vastly filled with blatant proclamations, grotesque (and, mostly, over-imposed) images, mutual accusations, examples of political prostitution, and gargantuan amount of lies.
Thriving on vague broadcasting and insufficient reporting on the issue by the mainstream media, doubts obsessed me. My inquisitive mind had longed for additional information, and an alternative opinion, which I found in foreign sources...
Some may not find it suitable and relevant to review this topic again few months later, as it may seem outdated. I disagree. We need to know our past, in order to understand present, and to foresee future.
I would like to offer this unique documentary for your review (finally, in English). I hope it helps better understand the geopolitical goals of the US, and the means of achieving them, trace the global projects infused with money of American tax-payers, monitor our diplomatic relationships and question their efficiency. The film shows vividly who and how has gained the most political dividents off the tragedy.
This documentary is truly unique by the amount of research invested in it: opinions of numerous military experts, politicians, journalists, and eyewitnesses of the events backed by over 40 hours of authentic videos (most of which, shot by the Georgian troops)...
...By no means am I trying to push through "some propaganda from the other side" here. I must admit, I do not support SEVERAL ideas and conclusions presented in the film; however, I don't mind supplemental enlightenment either.
The purpose is to present you, dear Reader, with another point of view, in order to facilitate a better insight of the issue, and to reject the farce.
So please - learn, compare, filter, analyze, remember... It is a must-see for the Western, especially American, audience (yes, I am talking about you, Joe-the plumber) and the political establishment! Click on the title to watch...
